Should You Try Botox Injections for Wrinkles?

Sunday, April 26th, 2009
Raj Kumar recently asked:

Botox is called Botulinum Toxin by doctors. Years ago, it had other uses. Lately, it has been discovered that Botox could be used to solve wrinkle problems as well. This anti-wrinkle treatment is a kind of medication used to treat wrinkle problems. Botox injections are injected in the wrinkled area of the skin, relaxing the ****** tissues. This results in gradual disappearance of fine wrinkles. It is best for deep forehead wrinkles.

It has now become the fastest growing division in the cosmetic industry.

Many believe that this medication paralyses the ****** muscles. It is not a false assumption. It so can happen only if you take an over dosage of this medication. You should always leave it to the doctor when it comes to taking a Botox injection. The mixing of crystalline form of Botox with a form of liquid to prepare the Botox injection is quite a task. Variation in the amount of liquid and Botox crystals might call for help. I am sure you would not want that to happen. Therefore, it is important to go to a physician who is a professional, has done this before, and assures your safety and beauty to you.

You should always keep in mind, never take any other medication like aspirin or go to sleep to avoid bruising of your skin. However, never forget that all medical treatments involve some risks. It is just that the decree of risks range from low to high. Risks are minimal when you take Botox injection:

- Regular discomforts like headache or low temperature.

- Eyelids or eyebrows may droop. The doctor should check your ****** condition before giving you any injection. This is called Ptosis.

- If you are allergic to egg, then Botox is a no-no for you. It has albumin as a base.

- It is recommended that pregnant women should not take Botox injections.

The results of Botox injection become visible after three days itself. The effects may last as long as four to five months. With time, the muscle activity will change reducing the effects of Botox.

There could be serious issues as well. Botox has botulism, which is a food poisoning toxin. This toxin can spread in your body putting your health at risk. However, if you not allergic to any of its ingredients, you might not suffer from any of these risks. With increase in demand in the cosmetic industry, Botox industry has become the most wanted wrinkle reduction injection. For good results, you will have to take Botox injection every three to four months because after few months, the effect of Botox begins to fade away. Botox cannot completely erase those wrinkles off your face. It only lightens the deep wrinkles and help get rid of fine wrinkles on your face.

There may be other injections as well. Nevertheless, it is more favorable because of its results. This is the modern fountain of youth and this is the potion that will make you look younger. Take a picture of yourself after taking Botox injection to see the results. You will be surprised.

Botox Cosmetic Injections - Improve Your Appearance

Sunday, April 26th, 2009
Spero Theodorou recently asked:

BOTOX cosmetic injections are a reasonable alternative for those desiring to improve their appearance without going for the surgical option. BOTOX cosmetic injection is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment for reducing and preventing wrinkles appearing on your face. Further, it has been approved by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) as a safe treatment.

An Effective Treatment for Removing Wrinkles

BOTOX is Botulism Toxin Type A, a purified form of protein, which is directly injected into the specific muscles on your face to remove your ****** wrinkles. When Botulism Toxin Type A is injected in a particular area, the muscles there cannot twist for a specific time period, and the wrinkles in that area temporarily go away, thus giving your face a smooth look. Apart from removing wrinkles, BOTOX treatment has proven to be a very effective remedy for treating various medical conditions.

The Areas that can be Treated Using BOTOX

•    Frown lines

•    Forehead creases

•    Crow’s feet (around the eyes)

•    Glabellar lines (between the eye brows)

•    Neck bands on the underside of the chin

•    Wrinkles surrounding the upper lip

Get Instant Results

Most of the patients considering Botox injections for wrinkles are sure to see positive results in a matter of days, usually within 10 days. No recovery time is needed as it is a non-surgical treatment option. Patients can return to routine activities immediately after the treatment. The effect usually lasts between 3 to 6 months, but, repeat injections are often required to maintain the desired results. Slight redness and swelling in the treated area, minor bruising, nausea, and headache can occur after BOTOX treatment.

Botox Injections: How to Get a Face Lift Without Surgery

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
Lin Parker recently asked:

Thinking about a face lift? There are many alternative treatments to cosmetic surgery, which give a non-surgical face lift, reduce wrinkles and help you look 10 years younger. In the last few years, Botox has become a very popular treatment. There is a long history of safe, effective use of Botox to treat muscular problems, and now it is used to remove lines and wrinkles on the face caused by daily muscle contraction of your natural ****** expressions.

How Does Botox Work? Botox (Botulinum Toxin) prevents muscles from contracting. When injected into the face, it relaxes the muscles and therefore removes ****** lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contraction. It is a temporary anti ageing treatment, lasting for several months. The effects of botox can make you look years younger, and boost your self confidence and self esteem.Which areas of the Face can be Treated with Botox? Lines on the face caused by muscle contraction can be treated by Botox. Lines on the forehead, frown lines at the bridge of the nose (glabella lines), eye wrinkles and crows feet (laughter lines) can all be treated with Botox.

When Will I See Results After a Botox Treatment? The full effects of Botox injections can be seen in 5-7 days. Results may vary on individuals, depending on the severity of wrinkles and the strength of muscles treated.

What are the Side Effects of Botox Injections? Bruising can occur around the injection site, and occasionally if a blood vessel is damaged, a patient may get “black eye” bruising. The use of an ice pack before and after botox injections will minimise any bruising. Occasionally, a temporary drooping of the eyelid may occur. The risks of this can be minimised if injections to the forehead are limited to the upper and central areas of the forehead. This also has a beneficial effect of lifting the eyebrows, which improves the appearance of the upper eyelids and reduces any drooping skin around the upper eyes, giving a more youthful, wider eyed look.

If you are considering Botox injections in order to look your best for a special event, it is recommended that you have your Botox treatment at least 7 days before the event, to allow for the full effects of botox and to allow for any bruising to fade away. Any injection carries a small risk of infection, so Botox treatments are not recommended if you are pregnant or ****** feeding.

How Many Botox Treatments are Required? Botox injections should be repeated every 3-4 months. Patients who have had Botox treatments over 12 months may only require further treatments every 6 months.

Where Can I Get Botox Injections? There are many clinics and beauty salons offering botox treatments. Many beauty salons have a visiting doctor who carries out the injections, so the treatments may only be available on a limited number of days for a particular beauty salon. If you live in a well populated area, you should be able to get botox treatments without travelling too far from home. An internet search for “botox” and the name of your town should help you find a local clinic or beauty salon which offers the service.

"beter Then Botox" Claiming Strivectin Sd Reviews Exposed

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Donna Ogwal recently asked:

Botox is becoming absolutely huge these days, fueled by television and celebrity publicity, the demand for botox treatment and the clinics offering it has took an incredibly large upwards jump. With the growing trend and botox awareness so too have come the demands for a cheaper and less invasive alternative, with many companies pushing out products that exclusively target people looking for suitable “Botox Alternatives”

A quick search into some of the largest and most respected online beauty stores and resources on the internet for Botox alternatives pulled up an interesting list of products, but one in particular, really stood out as a best selling and highly rated / reviewed alternate botox treatment product; it went by the name of Strivectin-SD and the slogan demanded attention right from the start claiming to be “Better Then Botox”

Background on Strivectin Skin Care products

Originally developed as a repair formula for stretch marks and scarring, somewhere down the line Klein Becker’s Strivectin SD turned this into an aggressively marketed Anti-aging cream, claiming a portion of their customers applied strivectin SD to their face and saw amazing results for the reduction of wrinkles and appearance benefits.

So was born the best selling and highly regarded anti-aging formula that now has sat atop the hills of best selling and top recommended skin care lists for years now. But could this original stretch mark and scarring formula really be an alternative or better then botox for the consumers in need of anti-aging and wrinkle reduction results? Well not exactly, the secret as I have found it, is in the context in which you choose to read the slogan and how you let it influence your perception.

Customer Strivectin SD reviews – Better then botox? Yes and No

I spent a large amount of time contrasting the differences and commonalities between people whom had received and contributed their feelings on the botox treatment as well as those whom have purchased and offered their strivectin reviews and feedback. What I found was that the slogan of “Better Then Botox” can be somewhat misleading, offering initially the interpretation of doing what the botox injection is famous for doing, when in reality what I uncovered is it most effective at covering the things Botox lacks, and is not as strong at doing exactly what the Botox serum is attributed for.

Hence the yes AND no reaction to the question if this is truly better then botox for the average consumer. Let me try and explain and elaborate these feelings below before I start confusing people:

Botox Strengths and Weaknesses

Botox is incredibly potent as a fast and reactive treatment for the reduction and removal of wrinkles and fine lines. However what lies after treatment is the steady progression back to the way things used to be. You see after then initial swelling effect, is the plateau and point where your results are most impressive, and from then on it is nothing more then a slower but continuous degrading process back to your original appearance.

The need arises for repeat “maintenance treatments” none of which contribute to overall change but just a temporary solution. As you can imagine the price begins to add up as you get more and more done as the natural aging process takes its toll (I have not researched whether an immunity is built up, slowing results further), and the feeling of no positive long term benefit is the most commonly reported negative comment from people that have or continue to get there quick fix of Botox’s potency.

Don’t get me wrong here, the results last a while and are extremely defining and changing during this period, but for the average consumer our budget and income surely begins to drain from such exhaustive repeat necessity. And our feelings would gradually shift as we begin to see the necessity for more and more treatments to maintain our satisfied results.

Strivectin Strengths and Weaknesses

Unfortunately, this does NOT present the immediate gratification nor amazing change that the botox injection does offer, but in the larger picture of things, can turn out to be the more worthwhile journey for those of us that don’t have the rock star, celebrity, or corporate CEO type of budget.

Strivectin SD’s strength lies in its deep and continuous repair as well as preventive factors, utilizing deeper and more reactive skin cell repair and maintenance to leave a more lasting and realistic younger appearance.

It will not make people oogle and ask ‘how in the world?’ but for people that can sacrifice an initial month or two for long term vitality and presence of age defying skin, strivectin sd will outshine a botox regimen that is no longer utilizing regular maintenance treatments (Heck if you can afford that though, more power to you!)

In conclusion

It really comes down then to what you desire, and the budget and income you have to fulfill your age-defying desires then.

All my research indicated that Strivectin SD is indeed “Better then Botox” when looked at in the longer term health and cost management areas, but when looked at from a perspective of seeing immediate and dramatic change it’s indeed inferior.

In the end it all comes down to the individual, their desires and budget. Hold realistic expectations and do your research before jumping into the hype of the markets. Don’t buy Strivectin-SD expecting to compare to that 50 year celebrity who was just reported as getting a botox injection in Beverly hills, nor should you rush off to Beverly hills to get that injection thinking it is a one time age defying answer until your 80.

Realistic expectations play a role in all purchase satisfaction, take your time and make informed decisions, hold realistic and educated expectations, and you will feel happier with every purchase you make, and then at least stress won’t intensive the rate at which you appear to age anymore!!

Immunity to Botox - Fact or Fiction?

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Dr Barry Eppley recently asked:

rare to hear a patient say…’my Botox seems to be wearing off earlier than usual’…or…’I had Botox but it didn’t seem to work’. Some few patients even suggest that they may be immune to Botox or that they are becoming resistant ot it. Many physicians and even manufacturer reps say that such immunity is impossible. But is it? Is immunity to Botox real?

First and foremost any drug, no matter what its mechanism of action, poses the potential of diminished effectiveness with repeated use. The most classic example is that of antibiotics. (although this really represents resistance of the infecting bacteria not necessarily how the body responds to it) But immunity or developing an immune response to a toxin, an unnatural molecule that the body may eventually recognize as both foreign and harmful, is particularly likely. While I hold most responses on the internet as not a source of absolute scientific information, there is too many patient responses on many different websites that claim a lack of response after injection or a dramatic dropoff in effectiveness after a period of years of successful use. (most common) While some, if not many, of these may be the result of using overdiluted or old Botox or from poor injection technique, all of them can’t be completely drug or injector-related issues. Resistance to serotype A of botulinum toxin (Botox and Dysport) has been reported in some physician series but the incidence is quite low. (usually less than 1%) The point is…it has been reported in professional medical journals in large patient series. Anectodal statements by some physicians such as ‘I have never seen it’ and the like does not count as scientific evidence. Never having seen it does not mean it doesn’t exist. Most of us have never seen a platypus in the wild either, but we know they do exist.

Once you develop Botox immunity, what can you do? There is no absolute answer to this uncommon problem. Perhaps waiting a period of time ( 6 months to a year?) before trying repeat Botox is one option to see if your immune response lessens. The other option is to use a different serotype, type B (Myobloc), and see if you get a response. In theory, different serotypes have slightly different molecules so your immune response may be quite specific to type A only.

Whether someone can be completely immune to Botox, without PRIOR injections, is a different matter. There would be no natural immunity to Botox since most of our immune systems have never seen the molecule before. When a first-time patient of mine calls and tells me they have had no response, actual examination everytime demonstrates that they actually have had a response it is just not as profound as they thought it to be. This is an issue of managing expectations and dosing, rather than some natural resistance to the drug.

By far, the most common patient experience in my practice with Botox is that patients actually develop a somewhat lesser need with Botox over time. After three or four treatments, many patients find that the Botox seems to ‘last longer’ and they may only need injections twice a year as opposed to every three or four months. This is not because the patient has developed greater sensitivity to the drug but because they have most likely ‘retrained’ their expressions. which are learned movements anyway. Once you have not moved or have less movement of any muscle for a long enough period of time, you may have inadvertently retrained your expressions to some degree.

Acquired Botox immunity is a real but uncommon event. It usually presents in the patient who has had Botox for multiple treatments, after a year or two, with a diminished response to a proven dose or sometimes as no response at all. Botox resistance without prior exposure is more likely an issue of expectations and proper dosing rather than a natural immunity.
