Botox: not for Wrinkles Only

Megan Hand, 5, and Kira Glossop, 4, have spent most of their lives in a wheelchair because of cerebral palsy. Botox injections have made them walk again.

Hand of Mossley, Manchester, was given seven Botox injections in each of her legs by Dr. Tim Meadows of Booth Hall Children’s Hospital in Manchester. She now runs around with her three-year-old sister Chloe, and her mother Claire, 24, is proud of her.

“There’s no stopping her now. She keeps saying, ‘Watch me mummy’, then she gets her balance and she’s off. She calls them her ‘magic legs’,” Claire told The Sun.

Botox allowed Kira to fulfill her dream of becoming a bridesmaid at her mom’s wedding. With the aid of a walking frame, she managed to walk down the aisle in a lovely pink dress.

“All our dreams came true. She’s such a cheerful, brave little girl and has been through so much. We’re so proud,” said her 25-year-old mother Tracy of Bolton, Greater Manchester. Kira’s dad Ashley couldn’t agree more.

“It was just fantastic to see Kira as a bridesmaid,” the 26-year-old engineer said.

Cerebral palsy is caused by a brain injury that occurs before, during or shortly after birth. It affects a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. The condition causes muscle tightness, hampering a person’s ability to walk or stand. While not a cure, Botox – a purified form of the botulinum toxin - can help cerebral palsy sufferers live normal lives by making them walk again.

Unknown to many, this popular non-surgical wrinkle treatment has numerous benefits. Since scientists first used the toxin in the 1960s, they have discovered that this deadly poison has the ability to change the lives of people with debilitating diseases.

“Besides a wrinkle treatment, Botox is also used to treat several health conditions, including headaches, backaches, eye muscle problems, muscle spasms and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Also, researchers have found that treating ****** scars early on with Botox may improve the appearance of scars long-term. This use for Botox is experimental, however, and hasn’t been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA),” according to the MayoClinic.com.

Tracey Raikes of South Elmsall, West Yorkshire, is another Botox success story. She suffered a stroke ten days after giving birth to her youngest daughter. The incident left the 38-year-old housewife paralyzed on the left side. Physiotherapy improved her condition but her left arm was useless and she couldn’t open her hand. When she read about Botox on the internet, she called her doctor for advice.

“Botox was injected into my shoulder and thumb, and at various points in my forearm. I felt nothing and it was over quickly. At first, I was disappointed because nothing changed, but just under a week later I could pull my fingers straight, and although my arm still hung down lifelessly, the hand looked perfectly normal. Even better, the pains in my shoulder disappeared. I now feel that my arm looks as good as possible under the circumstances, and I have Botox every three months,” she said.

In 1989, the FDA approved Botox to treat eye muscle disorders like uncontrollable blinking and crossed eyes. Later, doctors found it had an unusual side effect: it reduced the frown lines between the eyebrows. Since then, Botox has emerged as a popular wrinkle fighter and is used to treat crow’s feet and forehead creases among others.

Still, not all wrinkles respond well to Botox and not everyone can afford the pricey injections considering that they have to be repeated every three to four months. For these people, the use of the Rejuvinol AM/PM Botox Alternative Age-Defying System might be more practical. This unique system consists of the Rejuvinol morning moisturizer and the Rejuvox night cream that work together to moisturize the skin and diminish the appearance of crow’s feet, laugh lines, and wrinkles. Is Botox for You?

Colleen Lilly recently asked:

(c) 2008 Your Mind Body and Soul 123

There is no need to show your true age. Nobody should have to “grow old gracefully,” that’s really just a nice way of saying you look old. It doesn’t have to be this way?not when you have some terrific options that can keep you looking younger longer. One of the most popular ways of keeping your youthful looks is by having Botox injections. Botox injections are the fastest growing cosmetic procedures available. Some consider Botox to be the ultimate fountain of youth, thanks to its wide availability, few side effects, affordable cost, and great results.

What is Botox?

Botox injections, more formally known as injections of the Botulinum Toxin, is actually an injection of the same toxin that causes food poisoning. The Botox injections, however, are sterile and purified. Injecting the toxin into certain muscles can temporarily paralyze the muscles, preventing their ability to contract and cause fine lines and wrinkles, particularly in the facial area. This can occur without causing damage to the muscle tissue.

Are There Side Effects to Botox Injections?

The effects of Botox injections do not last forever, and, to continue having the desired results, multiple injections are usually required approximately every 4-6 months. Side effects are generally minor, and can include headache, nausea, pain at the injection site, and muscle weakness. In rare cases, or cases where inappropriate techniques, untrained administrators, or incorrect dosages were used, drooping eyelids can be seen.

What’s the Best Site for Botox Injection?

The most common sites for Botox injections are in the frown lines of the forehead, but many physicians offer Botox for treatment of other facial and neck wrinkles. Patients can expect to see instant results from injections. Botox is a very effective way for treating those pesky forehead frown lines that can make a person look angry or irritated.

Are Botox Injections More Effective Than Moisturizers?

Using Botox injections as opposed to an anti aging wrinkle cream or an anti aging complex provides more thorough and more visible results. Many creams and moisturizers have very subtle effects and need to be applied very diligently over a long period of time in order to see results. Botox treatment is an alternative that allows people to rid their face of lines and wrinkles more quickly, and for a longer period of time.

Benefits of Using Botox

Many people that are looking for anti aging cosmetic procedures that are affordable, not terribly painful, and very effective will opt for Botox injections. If you are looking to buy Botox injections, you will find that the average Botox injection will cost between $350-500 per site; which is only a drop in the bucket when you compare the cost of a facelift or other cosmetic surgical procedure.

Some practitioners will offer Botox creams or other Botox alternatives, but, according to the Academy of Anti Aging Medicine, these are not found to be as effective as the actual Botox injections. In order to get the desired results, it’s recommended that you have Botox injections as they are intended.

Is Botox A Viable Option?

One of the most popular and fastest growing cosmetic procedures available today is Botox injection. Used for the temporary removal or reducing of ****** wrinkles caused by muscles that is used frequently. These wrinkles are formed from repetitive use of ****** muscles such as when we laugh or frown. As a result humans form crows feet around their eyes, frown lines on their forehead and laugh lines around the mouth. As we age these lines or wrinkles become more prominent. As a temporary fix, Botox can effectively reduce and smooth these ****** wrinkles

Botox is in a family of drugs called neurotoxins and it is derived from a protein of the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Actually it is botulism, a severe form of food poisoning, in the Botox form it is purified. The Botulinum toxin was discovered in the sixties, but it was not until seventies that scientist realized the toxin had attributes that could bring relief to people who suffered from neurological disorders such eye ticks and droopy eyelids, as well as other muscular disorders.

Eventually scientist and doctors realized that the toxin had cosmetic benefits as well. Botox can be toxic if taken in substantial doses since it is a poison that relaxes or paralyzes nerve endings in the muscles of the face. Fortunately, diluted doses are all that is required for the desired effect of reducing wrinkles and lines.

Botox does have side effects with the most common being a result of the injection itself. Some patients report discoloration where the injection was applied with some Botox patients reporting lesions on the white part of the eyes. Drooping of the eyelids have been reported to occur with most cases being temporary and occurring right after the injection is administered, with this side effect only being temporary. Another side effect occurs when unqualified people that have not been certified or trained in proper Botox procedures give injections. Injections from these unqualified people should be avoided as these procedures can result in discomfort and pain, bleeding or bruising and infections are possible.

People with infections or any kind of skin disorder or condition should avoid having Botox injections and all injections should be in a sterile location. Consulting your doctor before having a Botox injection is highly recommended. Allergic reactions to Botox are possible, but a visit to your doctor and his counsel should be enough to decide if you should receive a Botox injection. Certain medications can increase the side effects of Botox treatment including antibiotics. Women who are pregnant should also avoid the treatment.

Some things should be considered in preparation of receiving Botox treatments. After the treatment there will be, in some cases, bruising and swelling for people with sensitive skin. Applying ice to the treated area with an ice pack or compress will help reduce the swelling. People that are handy with makeup application can cover some of the bruising although the swelling will be difficult to hide. Planning ahead is always best before having an injection. Pain medication bought from the local drug store can help reduce discomfort and pain as you recuperate.

Botox is a viable option for people that would rather avoid plastic or cosmetic surgery. It should be emphasized that the procedure is only temporary and future procedures will be needed to maintain a youthful appearance and can become a burden for people on a tight budget.

Botox Cosmetic for Men

Spero Theodorou recently asked:

Often patients who have fine lines and wrinkles as a result of the natural aging process, repetitive facial expressions, or gravity can get rid of them with BOTOX cosmetic injections. BOTOX cosmetic treatment works not only for females but also for men. Men often require more units of BOTOX than women because men have greater muscle mass when compared to women.

What is BOTOX Cosmetic for Men?

BOTOX is Botulism Toxin Type A – a purified protein, when injected, relaxes the facial muscles that form wrinkles on your face, thus leaving you with a more youthful appearance. All the troublesome facial wrinkles begin to fade or disappear within a couple of days, following the treatment. The procedure takes only 10 minutes to complete. Deep-set wrinkles of the forehead, scowl lines that often appear between the eyebrows, crow’s feet wrinkles around the eyes, smoker’s lines, and vertical wrinkles - all can be corrected with this procedure.

With BOTOX cosmetic, men can now dramatically improve the appearance, naturally and effortlessly without harmful side effects. But the effects are not permanent and may last from 3 to 6 months. Therefore, to maintain the desired results repeat injections are often necessary.

Benefits of BOTOX

•    Results with no downtime

•    Results that look natural

•    Minimal discomfort

•    Quick and simple procedure

•    No anesthesia required

If you are looking for a quick and safe solution to remove those fine lines and wrinkles, and get a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance, then BOTOX cosmetic injection would be the best option. Always make sure that the physician you choose is well experienced and talented.

"beter Then Botox" Claiming Strivectin Sd Reviews Exposed

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009
Donna Ogwal recently asked:

Botox is becoming absolutely huge these days, fueled by television and celebrity publicity, the demand for botox treatment and the clinics offering it has took an incredibly large upwards jump. With the growing trend and botox awareness so too have come the demands for a cheaper and less invasive alternative, with many companies pushing out products that exclusively target people looking for suitable “Botox Alternatives”

A quick search into some of the largest and most respected online beauty stores and resources on the internet for Botox alternatives pulled up an interesting list of products, but one in particular, really stood out as a best selling and highly rated / reviewed alternate botox treatment product; it went by the name of Strivectin-SD and the slogan demanded attention right from the start claiming to be “Better Then Botox”

Background on Strivectin Skin Care products

Originally developed as a repair formula for stretch marks and scarring, somewhere down the line Klein Becker’s Strivectin SD turned this into an aggressively marketed Anti-aging cream, claiming a portion of their customers applied strivectin SD to their face and saw amazing results for the reduction of wrinkles and appearance benefits.

So was born the best selling and highly regarded anti-aging formula that now has sat atop the hills of best selling and top recommended skin care lists for years now. But could this original stretch mark and scarring formula really be an alternative or better then botox for the consumers in need of anti-aging and wrinkle reduction results? Well not exactly, the secret as I have found it, is in the context in which you choose to read the slogan and how you let it influence your perception.

Customer Strivectin SD reviews – Better then botox? Yes and No

I spent a large amount of time contrasting the differences and commonalities between people whom had received and contributed their feelings on the botox treatment as well as those whom have purchased and offered their strivectin reviews and feedback. What I found was that the slogan of “Better Then Botox” can be somewhat misleading, offering initially the interpretation of doing what the botox injection is famous for doing, when in reality what I uncovered is it most effective at covering the things Botox lacks, and is not as strong at doing exactly what the Botox serum is attributed for.

Hence the yes AND no reaction to the question if this is truly better then botox for the average consumer. Let me try and explain and elaborate these feelings below before I start confusing people:

Botox Strengths and Weaknesses

Botox is incredibly potent as a fast and reactive treatment for the reduction and removal of wrinkles and fine lines. However what lies after treatment is the steady progression back to the way things used to be. You see after then initial swelling effect, is the plateau and point where your results are most impressive, and from then on it is nothing more then a slower but continuous degrading process back to your original appearance.

The need arises for repeat “maintenance treatments” none of which contribute to overall change but just a temporary solution. As you can imagine the price begins to add up as you get more and more done as the natural aging process takes its toll (I have not researched whether an immunity is built up, slowing results further), and the feeling of no positive long term benefit is the most commonly reported negative comment from people that have or continue to get there quick fix of Botox’s potency.

Don’t get me wrong here, the results last a while and are extremely defining and changing during this period, but for the average consumer our budget and income surely begins to drain from such exhaustive repeat necessity. And our feelings would gradually shift as we begin to see the necessity for more and more treatments to maintain our satisfied results.

Strivectin Strengths and Weaknesses

Unfortunately, this does NOT present the immediate gratification nor amazing change that the botox injection does offer, but in the larger picture of things, can turn out to be the more worthwhile journey for those of us that don’t have the rock star, celebrity, or corporate CEO type of budget.

Strivectin SD’s strength lies in its deep and continuous repair as well as preventive factors, utilizing deeper and more reactive skin cell repair and maintenance to leave a more lasting and realistic younger appearance.

It will not make people oogle and ask ‘how in the world?’ but for people that can sacrifice an initial month or two for long term vitality and presence of age defying skin, strivectin sd will outshine a botox regimen that is no longer utilizing regular maintenance treatments (Heck if you can afford that though, more power to you!)

In conclusion

It really comes down then to what you desire, and the budget and income you have to fulfill your age-defying desires then.

All my research indicated that Strivectin SD is indeed “Better then Botox” when looked at in the longer term health and cost management areas, but when looked at from a perspective of seeing immediate and dramatic change it’s indeed inferior.

In the end it all comes down to the individual, their desires and budget. Hold realistic expectations and do your research before jumping into the hype of the markets. Don’t buy Strivectin-SD expecting to compare to that 50 year celebrity who was just reported as getting a botox injection in Beverly hills, nor should you rush off to Beverly hills to get that injection thinking it is a one time age defying answer until your 80.

Realistic expectations play a role in all purchase satisfaction, take your time and make informed decisions, hold realistic and educated expectations, and you will feel happier with every purchase you make, and then at least stress won’t intensive the rate at which you appear to age anymore!!
